Retail fashion brand J.Crew’s new headquarters in Brookfield Place spans 6 floors and houses over 1000 employees. Located in NYC’s Financial District, the space overlooks the Hudson River and has 5 photo studios, mock stores, wholesale showrooms, management and accounting offices, conference spaces, employee lounges, and huddle rooms. J.Crew was drawn to this space because of the existing furniture left by the previous tenant. Empire Office, in collaboration with VM Architecture and Design (VMAD) took inventory of the existing product, reconfigured, and were able to re-use items in the new build-out, providing significant cost savings to J.Crew. Amongst these items were Steelcase workstations and private offices that were modified to fit the desired floor plan.

New furniture was specified and purchased from manufacturers such as Keilhauer, Andreu World, Wendelbo, and Davis – all in warm finishes to complement the J.Crew brand. The space now reflects the culture of J.Crew and is a more design-focused, and relaxing environment.

To match this glamorous and fun lifestyle brand, Empire Office and Gensler teamed up to create this stylish workspace for Juicy Couture’s new Los Angeles office. The space featured 85 Steelcase FrameOne benching stations and six private offices, as well as a number of ancillary pieces from Coalesse, HEM, Muuto, Vitra, Hightower and Crate and Barrel, to name a few. True to the Juicy brand, the space delivered an element of surprise around every corner.

This design-forward company needed a unique look for their new Los Angeles workspace to match the look and feel of their distinctive retail brand. Joe’s Jeans product designers worked closely with the teams at Gensler and Empire Office to bring their vision to life with custom conference tables, 115 freestanding workstations and seven bar-height collaboration tables featuring stone tops and heavy duty casters that could support the weight of the stone. A number of ancillary solutions rounded out the space and together reflect a beautiful, clean and functional creative studio with a hint of rock & roll glam.
